The Interpersonal Style Inventory (ISI) is a carefully constructed and easily administered personality test, distinguished by its specific focus on interpersonal functioning. Based on 20 years of research, the ISI gives counselors, therapists, personnel directors, and researchers a highly reliable and very accurate indication of the way an individual relates to others.
Designed for normal individuals, 14 years and older, the ISI is a self-report inventory composed of 300 True-False items. It yields scores on 15 scales, which are grouped under 5 empirically-based, broad-band personality factors:

Interpersonal Involvement

Help-Seeking
Nurturant

These scale scores provide a detailed picture of interpersonal functioning, including impulse control, emotional stability versus anxiety, and characteristic approach to both work and personal life. The Approval Seeking scale can be used as a measure of response bias. |
The ISI can be administered to individuals or groups in less than 30 minutes. A Short Form, comprising the first 150 items, assesses all ISI scales yet requires only half the time to complete. Because the two forms are available on a single Answer Sheet, you have the flexibility to select the version that's appropriate for the particular client you are evaluating. Both the standard and short forms provide separate norms for adolescents and adults.
Combining high validity, easy administration, and a specific focus, the ISI is the ideal choice in any situation that requires a comprehensive yet convenient assessment of interpersonal functioning. It is frequently used in high school and college counseling, marriage and family therapy, and personnel assessment and selection.
