Krug Asperger's Disorder Index (KADI)
by David A. Krug and Joel R. Arick

The KADI helps clinicians distinguish individuals with Asperger's disorder from those who have other forms of high functioning autism. Information generated by the KADI can help determine a student's educational needs and contribute to a more focused and relevant Individualized Education Plan.

A parent, caregiver, or teacher can complete the KADI--at home or at school--in just 15 to 20 minutes. Composed of 32 items, the test can be used to evaluate individuals from 6 through 22 years of age.

Each item on the KADI has a weighted score that reflects its ability to differentiate Asperger's disorder from high functioning autism. Raw scores are converted to percentile and standard scores, and a prescreening scale immediately identifies normal individuals, allowing clinicians to quickly rule out Asperger's in those cases.

The KADI was standardized on a sample of 486 individuals, including 130 previously diagnosed with Asperger's disorder, 162 previously diagnosed with high functioning autism, and 194 considered normal. Data were collected from more than 30 states and 10 countries.
